Guide to diverting calls on iPhone, Android, and landline phones

Call diverting, also known as call forwarding, allows you to redirect incoming calls from one number to another automatically.  

If you run a business, there are a few reasons why diverting calls can be useful. For example, you might want to advertise your business with a regional or national phone number, but pick up those calls from your personal mobile number. Or, you might want support answering calls, so you divert your incoming calls to a telephone answering service. Doing this can help you maintain a professional image.  

You can also choose the conditions when you want your calls to be forwarded. ‘Unconditional forwarding’ means you want calls to always be redirected, and ‘conditional forwarding’ means you only want to forward calls when you’re busy, you don’t answer, or your phone’s switched off. 

This quick guide will show you how to set up call diverting on your iPhone, Android phone, or landline and explain how Bizik’s services can support you.  

How to divert calls on an iPhone  

You don’t need to download any apps to start diverting calls. Follow this list of steps. 

For unconditional forwarding: 

  1. Go to your ‘Settings’ from your home screen. 
  2. Scroll down to Phone. 
  3. Under ‘Calls’, select ‘Call Forwarding’. If you can’t find this feature, type ‘Call Forwarding’ into your search bar. 
  4. Toggle the switch to enable ‘Call Forwarding’. 
  5. Select ‘Forward To’ and enter the phone number you want to forward calls to. This will automatically save. 
  6. To disable call forwarding and take your own calls again, go back to ‘Call Forwarding’ and toggle the switch off. 

The instructions for conditional forwarding are the same as those for diverting calls on a landline. 

How to divert calls on Android 

Again, no apps are needed—just your phone’s built-in settings. These steps may vary slightly depending on your phone’s manufacturer.  

  1. Go to your Settings. 
  2. Search ‘Call Forwarding’ and select ‘Call Forwarding’ or the ‘Additional Settings’ option. 
  3. Choose which type of forwarding you want: ‘Always forward’ (unconditional forwarding), ‘Forward when busy’, ‘Forward when unanswered’, or ‘Forward when unreachable’. 
  4. Input the number you wish your calls to go to. This will automatically activate and save the setting.  
  5. To disable, go back to ‘Call Forwarding’ in your settings and turn the feature off.  

You can also follow the instructions for diverting calls on a landline. 

How to divert calls on a landline telephone 

Landline phones don’t necessarily come with a customisable settings menu. Here’s how to redirect calls through a quick call – the same method also works on iPhones and Android phones. 

  • To forward calls all calls, dial *21* and the phone number where calls should be forwarded, then #. 
  • To forward calls when you’re engaged on another call, dial *67* and the phone number where calls should be forwarded, then #.  
  • To forward any calls you don’t manage to answer within 15 seconds, dial *61* and the phone number where calls should be forwarded, then # 
  • To forward calls when your phone is switched off, dial *62* and the phone number where calls should be forwarded, then #. 

To deactivate, dial #21#, #67#, #61#, or #67#, depending on the feature you enabled.
