We’re pleased to announce that Bizik, part of the BSQ Group, continues its partnership with Carbon Neutral Britain in 2025, making it the Group’s fourth consecutive year of being certified carbon neutral.

Reducing our environmental impact is one of our core values here at Bizik. We are dedicated to reducing our carbon emissions, promoting sustainable practices, and upholding corporate social responsibility in the workplace. Recertifying as carbon neutral demonstrates our continued commitment to positively impacting the planet, and we’re proud to celebrate this achievement once again.

Below, we’ll look at what Carbon Neutral Britain is, why the accreditation matters to us, and what Bizik’s carbon emission impact is so far.

What is Carbon Neutral Britain?

Carbon Neutral Britain is the UK’s leading independent carbon offsetting initiative. It supports businesses and individuals in proactively balancing out the emissions they release into the earth’s atmosphere through environmental restoration programmes, which sustainably support local community projects.

Since their launch in 2020, Carbon Neutral Britain has helped offset 3 million tonnes of carbon dioxide and greenhouse gases (CO2e) and planted over 2 million trees. They also fund various indirect global offsetting projects, such as local wildlife preservation and providing local communities with education, clean water, and energy.

The rate of global temperature change shows that government initiatives alone are not enough to stop climate change. That’s why Carbon Neutral Britain encourages voluntary offsetting to reduce our environmental impact before it’s too late.

Why being carbon neutral is important to us

According to Carbon Neutral Britain, UK businesses account for over 85% of total greenhouse gas emissions—the leading driver of global warming. As such, we recognise our corporate responsibility to help protect the planet for our employees, customers, and the wider community.

Firstly, we have invested heavily in our office environment to ensure it operates as efficiently as possible. For example, we minimise our use of physical resources. Our furniture is sourced from upcycled materials where possible, and our office is fully equipped with energy-efficient appliances, lighting, and eco-friendly products.

Secondly, we’re sustainability advocates. Together, we can have a more significant impact. So, we actively educate and encourage our teams and customers to incorporate eco-friendly practices into their everyday lives.

Thirdly, we embrace circularity. The Bizik office has a comprehensive recycling programme, ensuring we dispose of materials correctly. We also take great care in reducing our use of resources, upcycling and reusing where possible. Anything that we can’t recycle is sent for incineration and used for renewable energy.

Finally, we’re proud to be certified as carbon neutral since 2021. We offset through the Carbon Neutral Britain Woodland Fund™, which supports various reforestation, solar lighting, and wind power projects. All projects are certified to the highest standards through the Verified Carbon Standard (VCS), Gold Standard Voluntary Emission Reductions (VER), and Certified Emission Reductions (CER) programmes.

Keziah Cowan, Associate Director at Bizik, comments:

“Sustainability is a key pillar of Bizik’s overall strategy, and maintaining our carbon-neutral status reinforces our dedication to responsible business practices and long-term environmental impact reduction. We also believe in setting a positive example for our customers, encouraging them to consider their own sustainability efforts.”

Bizik’s carbon emissions report

Thanks to our ongoing partnership with Carbon Neutral Britain, we can calculate our annual carbon footprint, making it easier to identify the parts of our business that we need to prioritise in terms of carbon reduction.

Emissions are measured in three scopes:

  • Scope 1 – Direct emissions from a source a company owns or controls
  • Scope 2 – Emissions from purchased energy
  • Scope 3 – Emissions mainly from the wider supply chain

Our scope 1 emissions were 0, as we have no company vehicles. Scope 2 emissions were 26.83 tCO2e, and scope 3 emissions were 245.43 tCO2e. Our total carbon footprint for 2023 was 272.26 tCO2e.

Cowan adds: “Regular reporting helps us understand our environmental impact and ensures we take responsibility by offsetting our emissions. More importantly, it challenges us to find ways to reduce our footprint wherever possible continuously.”

At Bizik, we are proud of our progress on our sustainability journey. However, we know that this is just the beginning. We are committed to driving continuous environmental improvement in the following ways:

  • Energy usage accounts for almost 10% of our carbon footprint. We aim to operate our London office on 100% renewable energy by 2026.
  • Through our partnership with Carbon Neutral Britain, we have developed a Carbon Reduction Plan. We aim to halve the emissions we produce by 2050.
  • We will continue to develop our partnerships and expand the resources available to our customers to make sustainable practices accessible to businesses of all sizes.

Bizik’s sustainability journey continues

Sustainability is a continuous commitment, and our latest Carbon Neutral Britain accreditation marks Bizik’s long-term dedication to reducing as many carbon emissions as possible and offsetting the rest.

We’re incredibly proud to have earned our fifth consecutive sustainability accolade as part of the BSQ Group, reinforcing our passion for minimising our environmental impact and contributing to a healthier planet.
